Nothing much of note has happened in the last week so this will be short.
I let my dog nap on the bed in the evenings. It ensures she stays out of trouble and I like the companionship. She doesn’t spend the entire night as she wriggles and I’m a light sleeper. Last night I asked her to get down, as she knows she should, when I went to bed. She was having none of it. She curled up tightly and starting wagging her tail as if she was thinking “I bet I can stay up here if I’m really cute.” I picked her up, still in a ball, and gently placed her in her own rather plush bed. She was so annoyed her plan hadn’t worked that she actually curled up again, with her face away from me. I tried to scratch her belly, which always works, and she wanted nothing to do with me. My dog was pouting! I nearly fell over, I laughed that much.
Today I’m thankful for this picture.
There is no deeper meaning here. It’s a picture of pure dog joy and it makes me happy. I couldn’t stop laughing the first time I saw it. The one on the right looks a bit like my sister after trying an avocado. The dog on the left is more like me in the morning. Dogs are about the best damn thing that have happened to humans.
Today I’m thankful for dogs.
This is our family dog. I couldn’t find any better pictures. I really have no words other than “here she is.” Imagine the unlikeliest combination of breeds possible. Take the scraggly bits of those breeds, mix them together and shorten the legs. Then, shorten the legs again and you may have an idea of what she looks like in the flesh. She has the IQ of soup. She is also one of the sweetest creatures I’ve ever encountered. Sometimes you just need something warm to hug and she serves that need pretty damn well.
